Energy Efficient Lighting SystemsIn many older facilities, existing lighting systems often were not designed with energy conservation in mind and don't meet the lighting requirements of the tasks performed at the facility. Lighting systems often provide energy conservation opportunities that can mean significant cost savings. The goal of this course is to help identify and weigh options for more effective and energy efficient lighting solutions. This course begins with lighting concepts and terms that relate to understanding how to improve lighting efficiency with maintenance, lighting levels, de-lamping, daylighting, and control strategies. It also presents an overview of new lighting technology and types of lamps, including four generations of T-8 fluorescent lamps, T-5 lamps, induction, high intensity discharge lamps, LEDs and more. |
